1. What this is

DoOrDie is a personal-commitment tool. You set a goal, post a financial stake, and we hold you accountable. If you complete the goal by the deadline, you get most of your stake back. If you don't, your stake is forfeited.

2. This is not gambling

DoOrDie is not a game of chance. The outcome depends entirely on your own behaviour — not on randomness, another player, or a third party. This is a commitment device, similar to stickK or Beeminder, and is not subject to the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (Cth) or equivalent gambling regulation in your jurisdiction.

If you believe you may have a gambling problem, do not use DoOrDie. Australian users: contact Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858.

3. Stakes are non-refundable

Once you complete checkout, your stake is locked. We do not offer refunds for changed minds, missed deadlines, illness, force majeure, or any other reason. The whole point of the product is that the money is at risk. If that scares you, that's working as intended — don't commit more than you can afford to lose.

For launch (first 30 days), the maximum stake is capped at A$100. We will raise this only after we've earned your trust.

4. Where your money goes

If you complete the goal by the deadline: we return 95% of your stake. We keep 5% as a platform fee.

If you miss the deadline: 80% is sent to the anti-charity you selected at sign-up. 20% is kept by DoOrDie to cover operating costs.

During the first weeks of operation, anti-charity transfers may be executed manually by bank transfer or cheque rather than via Stripe Connect. We will publish proof of transfer on request.

5. Anti-charities

The list of anti-charities is curated by DoOrDie and limited to legally constituted organisations that can accept donations. You pick from the list — you cannot nominate an individual, a hate group, or any organisation we deem a defamation or compliance risk. The “Custom” option requires email approval within 1 hour of locking your commitment.

6. Verification of completion

When you reply DONE on WhatsApp before the deadline, we ask for evidence — a link, a screenshot, a photo, or whatever fits the goal. A human at DoOrDie reviews evidence in good faith within 48 hours.

We may refuse verification if evidence is fraudulent, fabricated, or does not reasonably match the stated goal. If we refuse, the commitment is treated as failed and the stake is distributed per section 4.

7. Daily messages

By signing up you consent to receive daily transactional WhatsApp messages from DoOrDie until your deadline passes. You can reply STOP at any time to pause messages — this does NOT cancel the commitment or refund the stake.

8. Privacy

We store your phone number, email, goal text, stake amount, deadline, and selected anti-charity. We share your card details only with Stripe (PCI-compliant processor). We do not sell your data. We may anonymise aggregate stats for our public completion counter.

9. Limits

DoOrDie is not a substitute for professional help with mental health, addiction, or significant life decisions. We reserve the right to refuse service or close accounts at our discretion. We are a small team in Adelaide and may pause new sign-ups when at capacity.
